Biography: Born in Cleveland, Ohio and a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, Attorney Tom Hanculak has been a valued member of Diemert & Associates for nearly three decades. He attended Valparaiso University School of Law after graduating from the University of Notre Dame with honors. Following law school, Mr. Hanculak worked for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office for six years. Before the end of his tenure with that office, he had been appointed Chief Trial Counsel for the Cleveland Police Prosecutor.
Since joining the firm, Mr. Hanculak has gained expertise in the areas of municipal law and public employee law. His advocacy has been instrumental in shaping the laws of Ohio relative to the collective bargaining rights of municipal employees and the privacy rights of public employees. Mr. Hanculak regularly appears on behalf of public employees and their unions throughout negotiations, fact-finding, conciliation, grievances, arbitration and litigation. He has advocated for his clients’ rights before various courts of law, and has provided testimony to the Ohio General Assembly. Mr. Hanculak has also served as Assistant Director of Law and Deputy Prosecutor for multiple municipalities during his employment at Diemert & Associates and presently holds the position of Chief Prosecutor for the Village of Chagrin Falls.
